This book is Joseph Riggio’s doctoral dissertation. Utterly fascinating.

The is the best book to start reading about Joseph Campbell. It was written about one of his workshops. It’s a truly inspiring read. You can open the book at random and gain insight from the words within.
-
This book describes the map that Joseph Campbell created from studying the worlds mythologies, the stories cultures have told throughout the ages of how to live a life that matters to be the hero, to successfully overcome insurmountable odds and live a life of meaning and purpose getting what you want and loving what you do.
-
This is the famous tv series that most Americans seem to know but most English and Europeans for some reason are ignorant of. It’s Joseph Campbell being interviewed at George Lucas (of Star Wars fame) home/ranch.
-
This is a selection of Joseph Campbell interviews with radio host Michael Toms. There’s a lot to listen to, and it’s easy to listen to because of the very conversational style. You can also get this as a digital file from Audible.com to listen to on your iPod or other mp3 player.
-
The Matrix is one of those films that shows the Hero’s Journey described by Joseph Campbell. I’d suggest you buy the trilogy and while watching be thinking “Whose journey is this?”
-
The original Star Wars trilogy written by George Lucas. George consulted with Joseph Campbell and they became friends. Mythology made real updated for the 20th century.
-
Now this is the Hero’s Journey in Russian with subtitles!!! It’s the INFAMOUS film shown very late at night on MythoSelf facilitators trainings… The first time I saw it I must have hallucinated dozens of scenes that weren’t there in subsequent viewings.
-
A long interview with Ken on CD’s, an easy and enjoyable way to get an introduction to Ken Wilber’s work.
-
I’d recommend you start reading Ken’s stuff here.
-
-
Then if you’ve read the previous two books you’re ready for this :-)
-
-
-
And this.
-
-
And this is Ken’s most recent book.
-
The first NLP book a good place to start.
-
Part two.
-
A good introduction to Milton Erickson’s work (and hypnosis).
-
Part 2.
-
-
-
-
A well written book that uncovers the who’s who of PUA’s (pick up artists).
-
This is male to female relationships broken down into a step by step process by Erik (also known as Mystery). It’s well written and clearly thought out. However Erik by profession is a close up magician, so it’s written in the style of a ‘how to’ magic book which in my opinion is overly complex.
-
This is more about attraction that PU. Peta is a highly talented trainer and you may have seen her interviewed by Borat. She’s also a good friend.
-
Peta’s third book, also highly recommended.
-
Peta’s fourth book also highly recommended.
-
This in my opinion is the best book on Ericksonian Hypnotherapy.
-
This is more about Stephen’s own approach to therapy evolved from his learining with Milton Erickson.
-
Steve’s most recent book is a collection of his papers showing his evolution from purely Ericksonian work to his own Self Relations approach.
-
This is actually a true story written as fiction. If you are interested in Huna, forget Max Freedom Long and read this.
-
-
This is book 1 of a trilogy. Again this is written as fiction and it’s highly readable and very enjoyable. In my opinion this is more core shamanism than Huna. A very worthwhile read.
-
This is book 2 of the trilogy.
-
And this is book 3, the final part of the series.
-
If you’ve any interest in Chi Kung, Tai Chi, or the Chinese martial arts secrets that were formerly only taught to the first born in the family, Mantak Chi is the original that many copy. This book is the most popular that you’ll find in many large bookshops, the rest you need to order. Though it is worth being aware that a theoretical understanding is different to a real world understanding. And while having an academic understanding which these books will give you is one thing it’s not the same as the real thing.
-
And here’s the ladies version.
-
And why not share your learning with a friend :-)
-
Actually Mantak Chia’s stuff is not all about sex (honestly :-) This is the first book that explains the basics of internal energy cultivation and circulating the microcosmic orbit. Read this rather than ‘Awaken Healing Energy’ as this is an updated and expanded version of that book. Again it is worth emphasizing that these books will give you an academic understanding which is not the same as the real experience and may even be misleading as your experience is your experience. A better approach is to train with an authentic teacher and just do the exercises then you will develop your own understanding.
-
This is a technical description of the basics of Chi Kung.
-
And this is the basics of Mantak Chia’s simplified Tai Chi system which concentrates on the internal aspects rather than external form.
-
While Mantak Chi is the authority of the Fire school or method. Bruce is the authority on the Water method. This is part 1 of 2.
-
And this is part 2.
-
Whether you read this as Shamanism, fiction or poetry. All Carlos Castaneda’s books are an incredibly worthwhile read. This is the first book.
