What is the Hero-Myth and how can you make success inevitable?
Abundance is the idea that everyone has enough, yet most people don’t believe in it because they don’t feel they have enough of what they want and need. That’s why most people live in the world of scarcity.
The beauty of ideas is that I can share something with you and you can take it and do things with it like making more money, getting into the relationship that you want to be in, being happier or doing things you couldn’t do before AND I’m not any poorer for having given that to you, in fact I’m likely to be richer because you’ll think of things I wouldn’t have though of doing with those ideas and when you share that with me we’re all better off.
Today it can be dangerous to be a hero because people easily get jealous of your success. You just need to look at the newspapers to see how rabidly they try to hunt people down and make fun of the people yesterday they were celebrating. Yet most people dream about being a celebrity, the hero they adore or admire. But they’ve forgotten their hero is human so sometimes just does stupid stuff the same as any of us do. They’ve misinterpreted what the hero represents, the hero-myth is that transcendent thing that inspires and draws you to them not the person themselves that’s ‘just human’ like everyone else. This is why you can get that same inspiration from non-real characters, from hero’s in movies or that you read about in books.
This is the idea Joseph Campbell put forward in his book: “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” or you may have seen his world famous tv series: “The Power of Myth” that the stories our grandfathers and grandmothers and their grandfathers and grandmothers many many generations back in ALL our different cultures told of how to be successful was one story. Wherever you lived from Alaska to Zimbabwe this one story was the Hero’s Journey.
In the early 1980’s Roye Fraiser had developed a proprietary model of working with people using a positive, excitatory framework he called the “Generative Imprint” Model. This was after his study of Konrad Lorenz’s work on imprinting as well as numerous other sources including Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey,” the hypnotic protocols of Milton Erickson and the NLP source material. This work was absolutely unique in that instead of working with clients around their problems, the client’s presenting problem became a lens through which to access a highly powerful and profound positive state Roye referred to as the Generalized Desired State (G.D.S.) - a unique “Ready State” of pervasive well-being.
Dr. Joseph Riggio Ph.D. initially designed the MythoSelf Process™ in 1995 when he began delivering a training that he called the “Mythogenic Self Process.” At that time Joseph was a senior student of Roye Fraser of NLP America/Blue Dell Systems. Initially the MythoSelf Process was a direct presentation of the Generative Imprint Model but in the intervening years Joseph refined, modified and added to the initial exercises to create the MythoSelf process, a “Fourth Way” path of spirituality.
Many well-known spiritual paths (both Eastern and Western) begin with the foundational premise of working with the “negative” or “shadow” experience of the individual … or, put more simply, what doesn’t work in an individual’s life. This orientation generates an awareness of limitation, and in doing so presents to the individual that which must be transcended. The suggestion, that transcending limitation to create the opportunity for transformation has significant limitations itself.
The MythoSelf work begins from a decidedly different premise - we orient around the most positive experience of the individual (this approach flows from origins in the Generative Imprint Model). We access the most positive experience of the individual and use it as a lens to focus them towards the unfolding of their awareness in relation to possibility (as opposed to limitation). Like this the individual experiences transformation in the instant of this awareness being present.
Another distinction between the MythoSelf work and many other spiritual paths concerns the difference between transcendence and transparency. Transcendence suggests moving beyond or above the existing limitation. Within the MythoSelf work we prefer to develop “Transparency” - the dissipation and dissolution of all limitation … going to where limitation simply doesn’t exist. We take the individual to a higher logical level where the limitation transforms into the perception of pure information without judgment. Transparency is a state of being that allows the individual to be present to the immediacy of the unfolding moment while fully and completely experiencing it - creating the possibility of assimilating and integrating the unfolding moment. This moment exists outside of and beyond any boundary condition of duality.
If that seems extraordinary it is. Some of the above text is from the MythoSelf website, for more about the MythoSelf process see the MythoSelf website or Joseph’s website the addresses are on my links page.
While the MythoSelf process is not a therapeutic model (it doesn’t address the problem state) it does allow you to go where the problem is not, to not have your problems or limitations. Combined with my years of training as a hypnotherapist, in particular as a student of Stephen Gilligan’s Self Relations Psychotherapy, the work of Bradford Keeney and over ten years of working closely with my good friend the original Flirt Coach Peta Heskell I specialise in working with clients on how they create the relationship they want to the future they want to be moving into so they make that success inevitable. To do this you need to be a hero because it takes courage. Courage to be the person who can be the person who attracts the woman or man that you really want to be with, not just for the short term like the pick up artists do but who you want to be with to build a future with. Or courage to be the hero or leader in your business where you are the biggest constraint on whether your business is successful or not.
I work with individuals and businesses helping you to get rid of the constraints that limit you from getting what you want, I do this by teaching you how to have the structurally well-formed foundation that makes success inevitable, and design and build the reality that sustains this success while simultaneously orienting you to perceive opportunities and take advantage of them. This is how you make your own luck, the combination of preparedness and being able to perceive the opportunities that are a match and fit for you and be able to respond as that opportunity presents itself.
I work with individuals around getting the relationship they want. Including embodied situational awareness, intentional intuitive decision making, and constructing the empowering mythology that makes success inevitable in the relationships you want. Fundamentally this is about transformation not overcoming limitations but going where the problem is not, changing ontologically at the level of being not just epistemologically at the level on thinking.
